CL life and Annuity Insurance Company is a growing annuity writer and seeks a Senior accountant to join our expanding finance team.
A successful candidate will contribute to the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and optimize efficiency of processes. This role involves reconciling and maintaining general ledger records and preparation of financial statements.
The stage of the company early in its life cycle means that the role will be very hands-on, and the candidate must demonstrate an ability to quickly assume responsibilities and a high level of analytical aptitude.
The role is a hybrid in office role based in our Fort Worth office and will report to the CFO, Insurance and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to optimize accounting processes and provide accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparation of Statutory and GAAP financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards:
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Manage inputs to month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate filing of annual reports and financial statements with all appropriate disclosures.
- Analyze and report on financial performance, valuations, and trends for areas of responsibility.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support cash flow management and financial planning activities.
- Assist with external audits providing necessary financial data and support.
- Ad Hoc financial support to the CFO, Insurance.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure financial controls are in place, and in adherence with current regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulatory frameworks and financial reporting requirements.
Education
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification.
Experience
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience and an understanding of private investments would be an advantage.
- Advanced excel skills and ability to manipulate data essential.
- Experience with accounting software and investment management systems. (e.g. Finance Force, Clearwater, AVS+).
