Are you a strategic leader with deep energy market expertise and a passion for client success? The Energy Authority (TEA) is looking for an Account Director (AD) to play a critical role in driving client satisfaction, delivering value through energy portfolio management, and supporting strategic business development.
As an Account Director, you’ll be the trusted advisor for your clients—providing insights into evolving gas and power markets, guiding portfolio strategy, and ensuring exceptional service delivery. You’ll collaborate across departments to develop integrated, innovative energy solutions and build lasting partnerships that help our clients thrive.
What You’ll Do
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with assigned client organizations.
- Ensure seamless collaboration across TEA’s front, middle, and back office functions.
- Understand client goals, assets, values, and constraints to tailor portfolio management services.
- Collaborate on energy risk management programs and trading strategies to align with client objectives.
- Proactively manage client satisfaction, communication, and feedback across all touchpoints.
- Educate clients on market developments, regulatory changes, and TEA’s evolving capabilities.
- Attend client and industry meetings (e.g., Board/Council, RTO working groups) to stay informed and represent TEA.
Strategic Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams (trading, analytics, settlements) to deliver customized solutions.
- Provide thought leadership on client experience and internal process improvements.
- Support the integration of new clients, including onboarding, documentation, and training.
- Offer strategic input on TEA's long-term vision and client service strategies.
- Mentor and guide internal team members to support career development and performance excellence.
Business Development
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue within existing accounts and pursue new client relationships.
- Collaborate on marketing strategies, sales materials, and industry events.
- Lead or support efforts to scope new services, develop pricing models, and negotiate agreements.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to shape future service offerings.
- Track profitability, effort, and performance for new and existing business.
Other Responsibilities
- Represent TEA at industry conferences and client locations (travel required).
- Contribute to the creation of thought leadership content including white papers, webinars, and speaking engagements.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in wholesale energy markets, client services, or consulting.
- Proven experience managing key client relationships and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of regional transmission organizations (RTOs), power and gas markets, and regulatory environments.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- Experience with financial and physical commodity markets (electricity, natural gas, capacity).
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full sales cycle—from prospecting to close.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive Salary: Based on experience, level and location.
- For Washington state candidates – $133,104.08 - $180,081.99
- Incentives: Annual target short-term incentive rate of 25% of base salary based on corporate, team, and individual performance.
