Organization Name: Shelby American, Inc.

Hours/Week: 40 (Full Time)

Scheduled Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, to include: a 30-minute unpaid Meal Break and two paid 15-minute Breaks for every four hours of work.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Job Purpose

 

To assist in all aspects of maintaining a clean and efficient place of business, to include timely cleanliness of designated areas within the business, inventory and ordering of Janitorial and First Aid products, monthly inspections of all Fire Extinguishers, various maintenance duties, etc. 


Essential Job Function

  • Must have understanding of job duties and cleaning equipment to complete tasks.
  • Report to Human Resources, who is responsible for the direction of custodial services in the facility.
  • Must be willing to perform all custodian related duties, such as sweeping, vacuuming, moping, dusting, emptying trash, restocking products, cleaning windows and office equipment, etc. 
  • Service, clean and sanitize restrooms twice daily. 
  • Produce quality work within set time frames and be able to work independently.
  • Shows initiative with regard to job functions and accepts new responsibilities as needed.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Utilization of floor machine required.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers. 
  • Responsible for ensuring janitorial supplies are ordered and on hand at all times.
  • Has willingness to work with and help others.
  • Utilizes personal safety equipment correctly such as safety glasses and vinyl gloves. 
  • Safely operate job related equipment provided and/or vehicles.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Dusting vehicles & mopping floors in the Heritage Center weekly. 
  • Presents themselves in a professional, positive, ethical manner at all times. 
  • Responsible for monthly maintenance of all First Aid Kits stocked to OSHA standards and ensuring supplies are ordered.
  • Responsible for monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspection(s).
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, conferences, events, etc. in preparation or completion of company events, banquets or meetings.
  • Comply with safety and chemical regulations to ensure Osha compliance.
  • Must be able to perform related duties as required.

Requires work with external customers or the public, work with others in a group or team, coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities and must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, such as heat of 120 degrees and above. 


Work Environment


Requires working indoors and occasionally outdoors, exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable when working indoors and may incur exposure to extreme heat weather conditions when working in the shop area. Job duties are performed independently. 


Qualifications


Experience and Education


Three or more years of similar experience. High School/G.E.D. Work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree. 

Ability to pass a Pre-Employment, Random or Reasonable Suspicion Drug Screen(s). 

Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Background Check.

Required to be Hepatitis B (Hep B) vaccinated, at employers cost, for OSHA compliance.
