Position Overview
We’re seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to join the Competition team at 23XI Racing. In this working manager role, you’ll lead and mentor a high-performing engineering group while actively contributing to the development and integration of vehicle systems. You’ll collaborate across design, assembly, simulation, testing, data analytics, and race operations to maximize race car performance and reliability. The ideal candidate is proactive, has proven leadership capabilities, possesses a strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and sub-systems, is technically sound in component design, and thrives in both independent and cross-functional settings. This position reports to the Senior Director of Competition, partners closely with Team Managers and Department Heads, and collaborates with OEM representatives, Technical Partners, and vendors. NASCAR Cup Series experience is highly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership
- Contribute to critical deliverables while setting technical directions and standards.
- Manage department operations including workload prioritization and project approval and oversight.
- Partner with senior leadership to scale engineering department to meet organizational needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with simulation engineers to validate and integrate high-fidelity vehicle models.
- Collaborate with data scientists to develop and implement integrated engineering solutions for complex performance challenges.
- Engage with Team Managers and competition leadership to align engineering goals with team objectives.
- Vehicle Systems Integration & Optimization
- Lead development and integration of vehicle sub-systems including steering, braking, electrical, and driveline systems independently and in conjunction with OEM and Technical Partners.
- Own component validation and sign-off approval.
- Define lifecycle limits for system reliability and compliance.
- Trackside & Laboratory Support
- Plan and support on-track, dyno, and lab testing to validate component and vehicle performance.
- Partner with mechanics and assembly teams to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective actions, and update documentation / work instructions.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in motorsports engineering, preferably at the professional/elite level.
- Strong background in vehicle dynamics, vehicle sub-systems, data analysis, component design, and systems integration.
- Experience with simulation tools, data acquisition systems, and computer-based engineering software.
- Proven ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with prior experience managing and/or mentoring engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive under time-sensitive race conditions.
- Familiarity with NASCAR concepts, rules, and practices preferred.
