The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced, resilient, and growth-motivated Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is excited to build a best-in-class finance function. The Controller will serve as a key financial leader, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability while developing people and strengthening cross-departmental partnerships.
What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership: Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
System & Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Strategic Partnership: Partner with the CFO and executive team to provide insights, analysis, and recommendations that support business growth and profitability.
Team Development: Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing accounting team that embraces accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax requirements, and company policies while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
Growth Enablement: Lead the implementation of new systems, tools, and reporting structures to support Soapy Joe’s expansion goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations, HR, marketing, and other departments to align finance practices with business needs.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of GAAP, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
Proven success in improving systems, policies, and processes for scalability.
Experience in multi-location retail, service, or franchise businesses is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team.
Resilient, agile, and motivated to drive growth in a fast-changing environment.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
