HAI Group®, a property-casualty insurance company serving the affordable housing industry, is looking for a Cybersecurity intern. As an intern at HAI Group, you will be provided with hands-on experience to learn and contribute to the Information Technology (IT) team’s impact to the enterprise.
Internship Program Mission:
To engage in the selection of undergraduate and graduate talent (in specific roles, advanced degrees) for an internship with HAI Group designed to support each student’s focus of study by evoking the utilization of acquired knowledge, theory, and skills for practical application at work.
Internship Overview:
HAI Group is seeking a motivated and organized undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degrees. As the Cybersecurity Intern, you will work closely with the Manager of Information Security and be exposed to new technologies and given the opportunity to learn them. You will observe, learn and perform the activities of a cybersecurity analyst, while being assigned special projects within cybersecurity.
This is a full-time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from June–August.
Major Responsibilities:
- Complement the current cybersecurity staff to execute the cybersecurity program from a governance, risk, and compliance perspective.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity vendors to resolve technical issues with tools and platforms.
- Engage with managed SOC to triage and remediate cybersecurity alerts.
- Assist in the implementation of the 2026 Cybersecurity Strategic Goals.
- Identify potential cybersecurity risks by conducting regular vulnerability assessments against existing information systems, IT assets, and IT networks utilizing state of the art tools and services.
- Stays up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and defenses.
- Facilitates regular cybersecurity awareness training and timely cybersecurity policy reviews.
- Participate in regular cybersecurity engagements and incident response exercises.
- Learn to monitor, gather, assess, and report cybersecurity programs and tool metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Receive and process industry and company relevant cyber threat intelligence.
- Triage reported phishing emails to determine security disposition, and assist with quarantined message review process.
Academic Background:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related degrees.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience in information technology with exposure to cybersecurity including operating systems, network security, application security, infrastructure security, and protocols.
- Basic cybersecurity analyst skills including information security policy frameworks, vulnerability management, risk management, and incident response.
- Demonstrates high energy with eagerness to learn and apply new technologies.

- Good written and oral communication skills
Experience:
- Prior work experience preferred but not required
