San Luis Valley Health is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapist to join our PhysicalTherapy Team! The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. The OT administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. The OT assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Occupational therapy is a profession which develops, coordinates and utilizes select knowledge and skills in planning, organizing and implementing programs for the care of individuals whose ability to function is impaired or threatened by disease or injury. OT’s primary focus is on those individuals with neuromuscular, skeletal, integumentary, pulmonary and cardiovascular disorders and evaluating the level of function related to these disorders. This leads to selection and implementation of appropriate therapeutic procedures to maintain, improve or restore these functions.
What You Need:
- Current Colorado State Occupational Therapy License, graduate of an accredited program for Occupational Therapy
- Current BCLS (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Additional Languages preferred
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Basic computer knowledge
What You'll Do:
- The OT demonstrates the ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and recommends treatment changes to physician and or other staff as needed.
- The OT demonstrates the ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients.
- The OT demonstrates knowledge of occupational therapy modalities.
- The OT treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families.
- The OT manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- The OT maintains department cleanliness and safety.
- The OT will interact professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
- The OT will communicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
- The OT will coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
- The OT demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- The OT will maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- The OT will consult with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- The OT will direct support staff to implement treatment plans in compliance with state, CMS and other regulatory guidelines.
- Documentation completed by the OT will meet current standards and policies.
