Downtown is seeking a music publishing royalties professional to support global royalty distributions for Songtrust's and Downtown Music’s dynamic roster. The Royalties Distribution Coordinator will help ensure the accurate, timely, and efficient distribution of royalties to Songtrust and Downtown clients. The role is responsible for helping to streamline output to our clients, ensuring all statements and payments are reported in accordance with our contractual obligations. This hybrid position will report to the Royalties Distribution Director and can be based in our New York, or Nashville locations.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Support the preparation and delivery of 20+ separate, contractually obligated royalty distributions
  • Support the preparation and dissemination of all client royalty statement reports for direct clients and courtesy reports for administered publisher clients
  • Maintain quarterly and semi annual client account balances for both Songtrust's and Downtown’s roster
  • Work with the Accounting Department to ensure client balances reflect all monthly transactions
  • Create various bespoke summary reports for our partner clients
  • Determine all client payable balances per distribution for both Songtrust and Downtown
  • Work with the Accounting Department to reconcile all royalty payments to verify accuracy
  • Support and further develop relationships with the Client Services teams at Songtrust and Downtown and respond to their inquiries in a timely manner
  • Help maintain documentation and storage of historical client facing reports for audit compliance and internal records
  • Assist with quarterly reporting, ad hoc reports, and special projects as required by the Royalties & Finance Departments
  • Assist with Spirit errors, transactions, monthly closes, and quarterly distributions
  • Assist distribution team with all aspects of the Music Maestro to Curve migration plan including deal ingestion, data QA and documentation of all SOP and best practices for work within the Curve application as needed for accurate royalty reporting
  • Help reimagine the various processes involved in each distribution to maximize our resources, increase efficiencies, and enhance the overall customer experience

You are / you have:

  • 1+ year experience in royalty accounting is required, and general accounting experience is a huge +
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Skilled in self-directed, high-quality execution in a high productivity environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience with Vistex Music Maestro a plus
  • Experience with SQL is a plus
  • Strong collaboration skills a must
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Able to manage and prioritize highly variable work volumes and deadlines
  • Organized and detail oriented

Downtown provides base salary ranges for all positions located in the United States at the time of posting. The hiring range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon various factors including, but not limited to, work experience, geographic location and relevant skills. This range does not include any other variable compensation components.
