What You’ll Do

As a Grading Heavy Equipment Operator you’ll use your advanced skills to operate excavators, dozers, front-end loaders, and motor graders.  You’ll play a key role in preparing sites, roads, and utilities to specification.

Responsibilities include:

• Operate multiple types of grading equipment (motor grader, dozer, excavator, loader).
• Read and follow grade stakes, GPS, and surveyor guidance.
• Perform rough & fine grading, sloping, and leveling to exact tolerances.
• Complete pre-shift inspections and minor equipment maintenance.
• Maintain safe operations and report hazards immediately.
• Assist with site prep tasks including shoveling, traffic control, or snow/debris removal.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Reliable and dependable, showing up ready to work and finish the job right
• Safety-focused, always following procedures and watching out for the crew
• 5+ years of rough or finish/ fine grading experience with dozer, motor grader, excavator, etc. (GPS control experience preferred)
• Motor Grader Operators must have proven ability to maintain grade within ±½ inch.
• Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred:

• Level 1 Sedimentation & Erosion Control Certification or Ability to obtain Sedimentation & Erosion Certification.
• Traffic Control Certification or ability to obtain traffic control certification.
• Passion for leading small crews

Job Locations: Employees are expected to have their own transportation to the jobsite and be there by starting time. Start time may be adjusted due to seasons, job type, or schedule. Typically, this is 7 AM. Sunrock hires and places new hires based off open positions needed on our crews. Sunrock cannot guarantee that employees will work close to where they live. Nor can we make changes to our crews to accommodate such requests.

Assured Time: You must be employed for 90 days to be eligible for assured time. Between March 15^th and December 15^th, employees are assured 24 hours. Employees must be willing and prepared to work to qualify for assured time. Between December 15th and March 15^th, employees are assured 40 hours. Again, employees must be willing and prepared to work to qualify for assured time.
