About the Department

The City is accepting applications for a part-time volunteer to fill the remainder of an unexpired term on the Public Safety Committee. 

The City of Stanton requests information from community members who are interested in serving on the Public Safety Committee. This request does not constitute an appointment as such appointments are made by the City Council. In accordance with the Stanton Municipal Code, terms of office for each Committee Member shall coincide with the term of office of the Council Member who made the appointment (current term expires in November 2026).

Committee interviews and appointments will be tentatively scheduled to be made by the City Council at a Council Meeting.
Newly appointed committee members will begin serving on their respective committee upon appointment.

 Section 2.06 of the Stanton Municipal Code requires the submission of applications and interviews prior to appointment to any position.

Position Duties

Public Safety Committee
The Public Safety Committee consists of five members who meet every three months at 6:00 p.m. As part of the strategic plan, the Public Safety Committee aligns the City with its core goal of “Providing a Safe Community”.  The purpose of this committee is to foster and maintain effective interaction with law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services and emergency preparedness.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Section 2.06.030 of the Stanton Municipal Code requires the submission of applications and interviews prior to appointment to any position. To qualify for an appointment to serve on the Stanton Public Safety Committee, you must:

  • Reside within the City limits;
  • Be 18 years old prior to appointment;
  • Not currently be employed by the City of Stanton;
  • Not currently be serving on any other City Commission/Committee (unless applying for reappointment).
