Chief of Staff to the Chief Risk OfficerOverviewThe Mastercard Risk organization is a highly business oriented function, with a core focus on supporting the business in proactively identifying and mitigating risk aligned with Mastercard’s growth agenda. The Chief Risk Officer's (CRO) office is pivotal in driving an effective enterprise risk management system that supports Mastercard in achieving its business objectives while safeguarding our customers, partners, employees and the integrity of our brand.
Role
The Vice President, Chief of Staff (CoS), reporting directly to the CRO plays a crucial role in operationalizing and advancing the strategic goals of the CRO and the Risk Leadership Team (RLT). This CoS supports the CRO in managing risks, building a risk-aware business culture, and ensuring the organization's resilience by acting as a trusted advisor, leading key projects and facilitating communication and coordination. This position is key to ensuring the seamless execution of executive priorities and risk management initiatives. This role is located in Purchase, New York.
• Partner with the CRO and RLT to coordinate executive priorities and implement both operational and strategic risk management objectives
• Provide comprehensive leadership and support to the CRO, including preparing briefing materials, presentations, coordinating meetings, and ensuring the timely follow-up of actions across key stakeholders
• Serve as the primary liaison between the CRO and internal and external stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and collaboration
• Lead and drive key projects as required by the CRO, including external benchmarking, data & analytics support, and ad-hoc initiatives
• Plan and oversee the operational activities for the CRO, such as Town Halls, RLT meetings, off-sites, employee initiatives, events, and volunteer activities
• Represent the CRO in periodic meetings and support the CRO in fostering a risk-aware business culture
• Streamline information flow and ensure the CRO has access to timely and accurate data to make informed decisions
• Act as a "sounding board" for the CRO, identifying potential risks and issues before they escalate, which requires the CoS to be closely engaged with the business
All About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
• Proven experience in a senior risk management role, with a strong understanding of risk as a business enabler
• Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills with a focus on setting priorities, managing processes and delivering results under tight deadlines and with competing priorities
• Strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail; must be advanced with presentation drafting and storytelling skills; highly proficient with communications tools including PowerPoint
• Superior partnership capability and leadership experience; ability to influence others and add value to a vision
• Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen with the ability to interpret and articulate complex information across business units and regions
• Sound judgment with proven ability to build rapport and gain acceptance at all levels, and in all business units and regions
• Critical thinker able to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling and influential communications
• Flexible and adaptable, with strong problem-solving skills; experienced in working under tight deadlines with shifting/competing priorities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to handle confidential information and materials with appropriate discretion
• Knowledge of Mastercard products and services is a plus
