Position Summary

The Lead Broker is responsible for leveraging deep industry knowledge and exceptional negotiation skills to secure the best possible terms for their clients, driving significant cost savings and risk mitigation. The role implements a strategic plan for assigned book of business or territory, focusing on growth, profitability, and risk management. They forge strategic partnerships with major clients, insurance carriers, and industry associations, fostering mutually beneficial collaborations that fuel growth.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:
• Leads the design and execution of bespoke insurance solutions across diverse industries, navigating intricate challenges and delivering tailored coverage for high-value risks.
• Develops and implements a strategic plan for assigned book of business or territory, focusing on growth, profitability, and risk management.
• Reviews new and renewal business applications and confirms if the coverage can be placed using that information. Accepts or declines risks and determines the placement of risks with various carries using independent decision making and discretion.
• Performs work for complex brokerage assignments during the daily workload.
• Secures optimal terms and conditions for clients, leveraging deep industry knowledge and exceptional negotiation skills to achieve significant cost savings and risk mitigation.
• Establishes and nurtures high-level relationships with key decision-makers in insurance carriers, major clients, and industry associations, fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.
• Attending agency and carrier meetings, obtains prospects and actively pursues and creates interest by telephone calls, writing letters, or making personal visits.
• Represents Ryan Specialty at industry events, conferences, and forums, promoting the company's expertise and building its reputation as a premier insurance solutions provider.
• Implements process improvement methods, optimizes workflow processes, and monitors performance metrics at the team and individual level.
• Refines expertise through ongoing education and professional development, staying on top of industry trends and regulations to provide clients with the most informed and strategic advice.

Work Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Business Administration, Sales, and Risk Management preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
• 12-15 years of work experience in Wholesale Brokerage, Commercial Insurance Sales or Underwriting with a Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of work experience with a Master’s degree is preferred.


Licenses & Certifications:
• State P&C and/or surplus line license is required.
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), or Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
