The role


As part of the expansion of Flint's Berlin office, we are looking for a consultant to join our team. Consultants at Flint support the administration of their client accounts, research and draft the work we deliver, and monitor developments that could affect client interests such as the passage of legislation, competition investigations, or the development of new regulations. We expect consultants to work on multiple accounts, build enduring relationships with their clients and provide sound advice: 


  • Monitoring political, policy, regulatory and competition developments relevant to clients and reporting them clearly and promptly. 
  • Contributing to, and drafting, client materials including advice, strategies, presentations, reports, and briefings. 
  • Driving the effective and efficient administration of accounts and projects.  
  • Continually investing in understanding of where the commercial interests of clients intersect with politics, policy regulation and/or competition. 
  • Conducting targeted research and analysis to support the development of client strategies and advice through reviewing and analysing relevant internal and external sources. 


What we are looking for


Consultants generally come to Flint with c. 18 months-4 years’ work experience. We are looking for candidates with experience working in and around politics, policy and regulation, such as for a parliamentary group or political party, in a ministry regulator, think tank, campaigning organisation or NGO. We are also interested in candidates from commercial backgrounds, including major consulting houses, with a keen interest in politics, policy and regulation. 


  • Fluent German and English – we communicate with many customers in English and German is the language of our interlocutors.  
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills – the ability to draw out the implications of complex evidence and analysis to give clear strategy and policy advice. 
  • An ability and enthusiasm to rapidly get up to speed on new issues, with a particular interest in policy and politics. 
  • Strong written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences with varying degrees of expert knowledge.  
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues to non-specialists.  
  • Strong organisational skills including the capacity to project manage teams, prioritising, planning and scheduling tasks proactively, and being comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with internal colleagues and external clients.
