SUMMARY OF POSITION: A Duneland School Corporation Nutrition Services Full or Part Time Associate is required to provide food services in a safe and lawful manner.. This position has a highly responsible role in providing nutrition and financial services to students and staff on a regular basis. All Duneland employees interact with individuals both inside and outside the corporation and therefore must have the ability to present a professional and organized image at all times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Respond to requests for information and services in a prompt, efficient, and friendly manner. 2. Provide an exceptional level of customer service to all students, community members, teachers, co-workers, and other staff members. Ensure needs are met in a professional, friendly, and timely manner. 3. Observe safety and security procedures. 4. Uses equipment and materials properly. 5. All Food Service employees are required to attend all in-service training. 6. All employees must accept delegated authority. 7. Nutrition Services Full or Part Time Associate must assist in the preparation of breakfast and lunch meals that comply with state and federal regulations. 8. Maintains and cleans cafeteria equipment to meet local, state, and federal sanitation standards. 9. Attend sanitation training and obtain a Food Handler Certificate or ServSafe Certification based on level. 10. Responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of pots, pans, and lunch trays. 11. Responsible for cleaning student cafeteria tables. 12. Serves breakfast and lunch to students and staff. 13. Ensures students receive a reimbursable meal. 14. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. 15. Participate in cooking and/or cashiering based on level.

Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships both inside and outside the corporation. 2. Ability to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily work. 3. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporation. 4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 5. Ability to multitask with attention to detail. 6. Proficiency in the use of all Food Services equipment and supplies. 7. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. 8. Recognize, analyze, and offer solutions to problem situations related to daily work. 9. Ability to remain calm and professional during times of high stress.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands) Work Environment: This position typically works in facilities with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending on assignments. Equipment: This position requires maintaining a working knowledge of all food service equipment. Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 4-5.75 hours per day as assigned for Part Time and 7-8 hours per day as assigned for Full Time. Summer hours will be adjusted as per the Child Nutrition Site/Assistant Site Lead to assure adequate coverage throughout the summer period. Evening, weekend and holiday activities will be scheduled as necessary. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by all Duneland School Corporation Nutrition Services Associates to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
