The Senior Platform Manager (Workplace) sits within the Platforms& Operations function and is responsible for HS2’s Infrastructure (compute, cloud, network) or Workplace Services (End user compute, digital workspace, meeting rooms). The role is responsible for the delivery, maintenance and availability of critical infrastructure and oversees supplier resources providing development and management services.
About the role:
- Workplace Services Platform components, proactively managing services and balancing business objectives with financial and supplier performance.
- Oversee the planning, installation, maintenance and acceptance of new and updated infrastructure and workplace components and infrastructure-based Page 2 of 3 services. Align to service expectations, security requirements and other quality standards.
- Support the design and delivery of Infrastructure (compute, cloud, network) and Workplace Services (End user compute, digital workspace, meeting rooms), ensuring that agreed support models, security requirements, and other quality standards are met.
- Provide technical leadership to optimise the performance and outcomes of IT Infrastructure and Workplace Services.
- Provide technical leadership and management of suppliers and resources providing the delivery of capability within IT Infrastructure and Workplace Services.
- Ensure that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate, and resolve problems in systems and services, enabling development of problem solutions.
- Oversee resources from suppliers, ensuring that they meet agreed SLAs, KPIs and targets.
- Direct the definition of IT Infrastructure & Workplace Services objectives and processes with IT suppliers and resources.
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About you:
Skills:
- Technology service management. Ability to manage the provision of technology-based services to meet defined organisational needs.
- IT infrastructure. Ability to lead the deployment, configuration, and operation of IT infrastructure including cloud systems and networking.
- IT operations management. Supporting the Operations team in ensuring the successful delivery on infrastructure & workplace services.
- Supplier management. Ability to align the HS2’s supplier performance objectives and activities with sourcing strategies and plans, balancing costs, efficiencies, and service quality.
- Stakeholder relationship management. Ability to influence stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the IT Infrastructure and EUC technology used in HS2 IT, and the industry that the company operates in.
- Knowledge of a range of delivery methodologies (e.g., but not limited to waterfall, agile or lean), their implications and how they can be integrated into IT initiative delivery.
- Knowledge of the technology service provider landscape, understanding where future chances exist for collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of digital information technology, trends, and the opportunities they present.
Type of experience:
- Experience overseeing critical IT infrastructure in a similar environment to the one presented in HS2.
- Experience managing an infrastructure delivery team to maintain expected service levels.
- Experience managing service delivery in a complex, multi-vendor environment.
- Experience of collaborating with or managing suppliers and vendors, especially in a multi-vendor environment.
