Job Purpose
The Internal Audit Manager will Independently manage the end-to-end delivery of a range of audits (primarily focussed in the Front and Middle Office areas of activities) from planning through to execution, reporting and follow-up in line with the functions Internal Audit Methodology.
In addition, the role will be required to support on other developmental and routine activities of the work of the Internal Audit Services (IAS) Function.
Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Leeds office.
Salary: £72,500 – £82,500 per annum

Key Accountabilities
Independently lead and take ownership of the end-to-end planning and execution of internal audit engagements in complex areas, predominantly Front and Middle Office, though flexibility will also be required to deliver audits in other areas as business needs arise.
Conduct audit engagements in compliance with the IAS Internal Audit Methodology and diligently document the work undertaken in a structured, clear and concise manner to a standard that would be acceptable during an External Quality Assessment of the IAS Function.
Undertake planning activities for an assurance engagement where the route ahead may not always be clear to propose the scope and key risk areas for focus during the audit.
Prepare and present excellent quality outputs (e.g. audit reports and closing meeting slides) with an eye for detail, to communicate complex messages in a simple, succinct and balanced way to a range of stakeholders, helping to inform effective decision making.
Apply judgement and propose recommendations to findings which are proportionate to the risk in question, written in a clear manner to facilitate its completion and follow-up.
Work collaboratively, in a friendly and professional manner in sometimes difficult situations to resolve conflict in the process of agreeing an audit report with the business.
Capture agreed actions arising from IAS engagements and diligently follow-up in a timely way the status of audit action completion, providing support where necessary and reporting the outcome to inform reporting to ExCo/Audit and Risk Committee.
Presenting the output of audit work to a range of senior stakeholders (e.g. Executive Committee and Board level)
Support the Head of Internal Audit Services on the development of the Internal Audit Plan, engaging with senior stakeholders, undertaking analysis and utilising insights to inform priority areas of assurance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across NWF to inform strategic planning activities of the IAS Function.
Apply subject matter expertise gained via their internal and external network, coupled with insights about the organisation and its key risks to deliver assurance activities in support of NWF corporate objectives.
Pro-actively identify opportunities and support on executing continuous improvement initiatives within the IAS function to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the ways of working.
Support the wider IAS team areas of significant judgement (e.g. audit findings)
Key Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Experience and Knowledge
A member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or holding a CCAB qualification (e.g. ACA).
Significant experience conducting the end-to-end delivery of internal audit engagements independently in areas such as Investment Governance, Asset Management and Monitoring, Credit Risk Assessment, Model Risk, Concentration Risk Management, Interest Rate Risk Management, Treasury and Cash Management.
Experience of operating in a Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Asset Management and/or Corporate Finance environment. Alternatively, experience in professional services delivering to a largely Financial Services background
Candidates with external or internal audit or potentially candidates looking to transfer into audit from risk, controls or compliance with strong technical knowledge around complex credit investments could be considered.
Experience of working within a development finance/impact financing environment would be a distinct advantage.
Prior experience of operating in a start-up environment would be an advantage.
Knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards.
Experience of deploying innovative audit approaches to providing assurance.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and working with models would be a distinct advantage.

Strong skills to identify risks in a given environment and expectations of controls which are proportionate given the development journey of the organisation as a start-up that is scaling up its activities.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with and persuade stakeholders, obtaining buy-in of sometimes difficult messages during audit work.
An ability to persevere, stay focussed and be flexible in delivering assurance work in environment that is fast-changing, and auditees have competing business priorities.
