Position and Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the manager, engineering & projects this position provides design expertise to the site and project engineering group in the application of the National Building and Fire Codes in an industrial setting.

 

The position provides design engineering services, expert opinion, structural and civil inspections, project management and oversite for the design, construction and/or maintenance of various building, equipment, lifting device upgrades and fire safety upgrades at a uranium conversion facility.  In addition, conducts technical investigations, studies and reports and makes related recommendations. This position is responsible for ensuring site compliance with all regulatory codes, standards, and Cameco structural and civil design criteria and test reports.

 

Education and Qualifications

                                                                                                                                  

Requirements of the position:

  • Civil Engineering degree (structural subfield)
  • Professional engineer (P.Eng. or E.I.T) licensed to practice in the province of Ontario (or actively working towards)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant design standards and codes
  • Results oriented self-starter with strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization and provide direction and oversite to the mechanical skilled trades group through written instructions and sketches.
  • Clear police background check

Assets:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Lean certification or demonstrated experience
  • Knowledge of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000
  • Ontario/National Building Code courses
