Class A CDL Driver at Gallup Welder Supply

Role Overview:

The BMR Yard Mechanic/Local Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient rental experience by delivering equipment safely and in proper working condition. The role primarily involves local vehicle operation, including positioning, loading, unloading, and moving the truck, performing basic preventive maintenance on vehicles and rental equipment, and ensuring all store property is clean and well-maintained.

Education & Experience Requirements: 

         Required: High School or equivalent            

         Driving Experience: Minimum 1 Year

         Required: Current Class A CDL License

         Required: Medical examiner certification card 

         Required: English language and comprehension

         Required: 9-13 manual transmission

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate company-owned trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations
• Deliver machinery and rental equipment
• Maintain and repair rental equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance 
• Ensure equipment is clean and ready for customer use
• Be knowledgeable of all BMR equipment and its proper usage
• Loads and unloads cargo, ensuring it is properly secured for transport 
• Keep grounds clean and well maintained
• Completes paperwork such as delivery logs, mileage records, and fuel receipts
• Performs basic vehicle maintenance, including refueling and cleaning
• Exceptional customer service during delivery and pick up operations
• Safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment 
• Clear communication and foster a cohesive and collaborative work culture
• Exceptional customer service by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, acknowledging all customers promptly
• Protects the company’s value by keeping proprietary information confidential
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Performs all other assigned duties by management

Required Skills & Experience:

• Driver’s License
• Forklift Operator
• Safe driving and navigation of various road conditions
• Basic mechanical knowledge 
• Ability to maintain high safety standards and identify safety hazards.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory duties

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Physical effort requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders, gripping, reach with hands and arms, carrying, climb up and down stairs. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and keyboarding. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Exposure to dust, exposure to extreme weather conditions. Visual abilities, near and far vision, depth perception.

Work Hours and Environment:

Monday to Friday, Day Shift, you will be home in time for dinner. The work environment is a dynamic retail setting with continuous customer interaction. 

Employment with Gallup Welder Supply is on an “at-will” basis.
