The position: We are seeking to fill a Housing Specialist position. In this role, you’ll deliver responsive customer service while managing application files, entering and updating data, and supporting the admissions process for both Low-Income Public Housing (LIPH) and the Seattle Senior Housing Program (SSHP). You’ll also handle file referrals and have the opportunity to assist across teams, offering variety and room to grow in a mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has:
- Two years of work experience in human services related non-profit public service, social services, human services, housing programs or related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus one year of college level course work in Business, Property Management, Social Services, or related fields.
What will you do?
- Maintain applicant records: Create and update waitlist records from Pre-Applications and Applications, including address, preferences, and household details.
- Manage application files: Prepare and complete application files for housing programs (LIPH, SSHP, etc.); collect required documents; maintain accurate contact records; handle document imaging.
- Provide applicant support: Respond to applicant inquiries by phone and in person; explain SHA programs and application status.
- Refer to resources: Make appropriate referrals to community services.
- Lead applicant sessions: Conduct Pre-Application Workshops, Orientations, and group presentations; ensure application completeness and understanding of program details.
- Support applicants with disabilities: Provide or coordinate assistance to ensure equal access to programs and accommodations.
- Track file referrals: Help maintain the system for tracking files referred to Housing Specialists.
- Coordinate translation services: Arrange interpreters or other applicant assistance as needed.
- Operate office equipment: Use assigned tools (computers, printers, scanners, etc.) per SHA policies.
- Provide admissions backup: Support other Admissions roles and caseloads as needed to balance workload.
- Support agency goals: Contribute to goals, planning, service improvements, and uphold SHA’s mission with professionalism and teamwork.
- Follow safety protocols: Attend training; use PPE; report incidents and unsafe conditions; follow health and safety guidelines.
