POSITION OVERVIEW
The CDL Driver is charged with professionally transporting customer vehicles for the Service Department or delivering a truck in or out of state as directed by the Sales Department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver customer’s vehicles when service department has completed repairs.
- Must be able to operate all commercial motor vehicles (including tractors, straight trucks, roll-offs, trash trucks, school buses, and pull all styles of trailers) safely and efficiently.
- Perform test drives on customer vehicles. Must be able to drive the requested desired mileage (15,35,50,100 miles).
- Plan routes for desired mileage, navigate various road conditions.
- Perform Quality Control inspections on vehicles following repairs (mechanical knowledge a plus).
- Perform pre-trip & post-trip vehicle inspections with foremen, reporting any defects or concerns to the foremen.
- Keep the service lot neat and orderly, including arranging vehicles, fueling, and ensuring that vehicles are locked throughout the week.
- During shift downtime, CDL driver to remain available for his entire shift (by helping in the shop and in other areas such as empty trash cans, sweep floors, and arrange the lot as needed.
COMPLIANCE, COMMUNICATION & DOCUMENTATION
- Adhering to all company, state, and federal regulations, completing paperwork accurately and submitting trip reports timely.
- Document findings and actual return mileage into Decisiv system.
- Follow instructions from manager, foremen, and advisors.
- Clock in and out on time and take lunch no more than 6 hours into the shift, make sure it is a 30-minute lunch break.

KNOWLEDGE
- Strong verbal, written and non-verbal communication skills

- CDL class A or B license and clean driving record required (Ability to obtain specific endorsements if needed)
- Must maintain clean DOT DQ file/keep CDL license active
- Understand that the CDL Driver is a safety sensitive position and the RWC drug-free workplace policy and requirement applies to the CDL driver.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS
- CDL Driver position may involve physical tasks such as lifting, bending, climbing, walking, and working in various weather conditions.
- Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account
- Normal physical agility
- Normal physical strength to handle a 50-pound object, taking frequency into consideration
- Normal endurance to handle a 40-hour work week
- Normal accessibility of all work sites required for the position
- Normal exposure to weather and temperature extremes, cramped spaces, loud noises, chemicals and fumes, dust, heights or work safety hazard
Must be able to successfully pass a background check and a pre-hire drug and alcohol test.
