JOB SPECIFICS: Long-term substitute position, U.S. History & Government
DISTRICT AND JOB DESCRIPTION: Elk Rapids Schools has approximately 975 students in grades K-12
and is located in the northwest lower peninsula of Michigan. The District also serves as an authorizer of Mill
Creek Academy, a K-5th-grade District that educates approximately 230 students. Elk Rapids Schools is an
education leader within the Northwest Education Services Intermediate School District and is eager to
interview the best candidates for this vacancy.
Elk Rapids High School is seeking a motivated, passionate, engaged, and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to
make a difference in our community and district. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful
impact on the lives of students by fostering a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. The
ideal candidate will commit to educational excellence, effective classroom management, and a collaborative
approach to working with all students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires the teacher to successfully create and implement daily lesson plans, grade
coursework, maintain consistent communication with parents, work effectively with the other teachers,
and effectively implement our curriculum.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
? Must possess 60+ collegiate credit hours.
? Must successfully complete the required background check.
? Must successfully complete the required electronic fingerprinting.
? Ability to develop respect-based relationships with students.
? Must be a team player and be able to work effectively with a team.
? Must have excellent communication skills.
Preferred:
? Understanding of (& experience with) Advanced Placement course requirements.
