The UK Trading IT Solutions team is currently seeking a Principal Business Support Analyst to join our team promptly on a 12 month fixed term contract. Your responsibilities

 

A fast pace UK Energy Trading environment requires a Principle Support Analyst to be part of an overall Trading IT team within the UK.   Overall the role requires direct interaction with key stakeholders, operating as the focal point for operation and delivering small to medium projects requires understanding of IT solution design and keeping to date with technology trends. 

As part of a diverse Trading IT community the role will contribute towards providing secure, resilient and complaint services to maintain business continuity. 

We expect the candidate to have direct responsibility for other Solution Experts (internal/external/within service partners) working on different work streams within the Project or Program of Work and for this person to be ensuring that the design is coherent across those work streams. 

This position has the following accountabilities:

  • Carry out IT operational duties, including management of incidents to understanding root cause and ensuring  local services are designed to handle errors, security risks, disaster-recovery, compliance to regulation/legal stipulations.
  • Use of extensive problem solving techniques combined with technical IT expertise to resolve incidents and mitigate re-occurrence.
  • Act as principle co-ordination and trusted Business Partner for Trading IT London Office.
  • Act in capacity to establish improved practices within the IT Solutions provided and leading others to adopt improvements in quality or efficiency of the role to improve the service provided by IT
  • As IT project lead co-ordination of IT projects or programs of work including designing the benefits case and managing cost. number of developers, having responsibility for the design meeting requirements.
  • Planning expansion of IT services across wider IT community to allocate work and ensure time and quality considerations.
  • Responsible for supporting co-ordination of New Trading Products, enhancing elements of the end to end trade life cycle as needed.
  • Undertake feasibility activity, taking an outline idea and developing to sufficient detail to enable a decision to be made on whether to proceed
  • Keep abreast of developments in the IT industry and research relevant current and future technologies
  • Act in a Leadership/expert capacity at Technical Forums, promoting best practices to the groups.
  • Actively identify and report project and system improvement ideas
  • Engage with stakeholders in the wider Uniper business to provide into to Design and Architecture of the IT Systems
  • Providing alternative solutions to business requirements with appropriate balance of time/cost/quality/scope of the solution, to establish the most cost-effective solution.
  • Adopt Technical Solutions to manage Business risk, mitigating the impact of IT Change on the Uniper Business through innovative approaches to the delivery and transition of systems from old to new functionality.
  • Feed into the Project Plan, and dependencies and resource requirements to enable the Project manager to plan effectively
 

 

Your profile


Essential

We are keen to hear from the candidates with below skill set:

  • Considerable experience within IT Operations or Systems Analyst role

  • Considerable experience of managing design, development and unit testing of complex large scale & multi-user applications, particularly Integration & backend systems.

  • Experience of the influencing system design within a commercial environment

  • Negotiating and managing contractual issues with external suppliers and creating external purchase orders.

  • Strong educational background, preferably to degree level

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details in non-technical terms, to influence senior stakeholders in the solution design, and to facilitate workshops and presentations in a confident manner.

  • Experience of discussing and capturing requirements with business analysts and the user community

  • Desire and tenacity required to ensure that application development is carried out to the highest standard and meets demanding customer needs

  • Extensive experience of performance tuning techniques gained in a complex multi-user environment

  • Influencing skills both with peers and the user community

  • Extensive experience of working with key users in a fast paced and changing business environment to design and develop software that meets company standards and business need

  • Extensive experience of working with application support functions to ensure a smooth and efficient handover of development work into a live support environment

  • Mentoring and coaching skills to enhance the development capability within the team and department

  • Monitoring and research of emerging technologies within interest to the department and the ability to identify and demonstrate their value to the department

  • Ability to Solve Problems quickly and competently

  • Presentation and workshop management skills

  • Extensive experience of working alongside system architects and data management functions to provide technical solutions within a mature and complex system architecture

  • Experience of supplier liaison where development projects involve 3rd party technologies

  • Contributing to the further development of the department through continuous improvements

  • Considerable experience of the full development lifecycle and working with different methodologies

  • Self-starter and ability to work effectively without micro management of tasks.

Desirable

  • We are an international company with a global reach. We expect fluent written and spoken English. German language skills are a plus

  • Educational background preferably to degree level Information Technology, Engineering, a digital area or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience working on European gas and power traded market

  • Exposure to different development methodologies

  • Experience of Front-End Graphical User Interface Design

  • IT Technical skills, either front end or back end languages.

  • Ideal Candidate maybe have background on IT support or infrastructure and wants to move into business domain facing analyst.
