Blowing Mechanical design office is looking for a design manager : the blowing wheel LOB Owner. Based at our Le Havre site, he/she will lead a team of 10 designers and will ensure the technical coordination of a strategic part of our product.
Blowing Mechanical design office is looking for a design manager : the blowing wheel LOB Owner. Based at our Le Havre site, their responsibilities will be :
- Lead and manage a team of 10 designers.
- Act as the technical expert and owner of the Blowing Wheel Line of Business (LOB).
- Execute engineering activities related to the LOB, in line with the Product Development Plan and redesign-to-cost initiatives.
- Decide on and validate all modifications concerning the LOB.
- Manage resources dedicated to development and maintenance of the LOB, including subcontractor oversight if required.
- Ensure the overall performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of the LOB.
- Coordinate with other company departments to align technical activities.
- Maintain and optimize configurability, modularity, and standardization of modules.
- Analyze operating anomalies and failure modes, adapting designs accordingly.
- Ensure customer requirements are met and properly secured.
- Update documentation related to LOB modifications.
- Guarantee compliance with development processes and global standards.
- Monitor Product Engineering Requests (PER) linked to the LOB and perform appropriate risk assessments.
- Secure accurate allocation of engineering costs and control expenses against the development budget.
Educational qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical Institute.
Professional skills and experience:
The candidate demonstrates a positive attitude and proven knowledge in team management, combined with strong experience in the blowing process and its associated functions. He/she has expertise in the sizing of mechanical components and transmissions, as well as a solid understanding of structures and material properties. Proficient in the use of problem-solving tools such as RCA and the “5 Whys,” he/she also possesses knowledge of both standard and additive manufacturing processes. The candidate is able to travel, when required, for short periods to customer sites in order to conduct surveys or analyze machine issues.
Languages:
Fluent in French and professionally proficient in English.
