Job Description

The College of Education & Human Development, Department of Counseling, Health & Kinesiology is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning Fall 2026. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of Human Services. A successful candidate will serve as coordinator of the Human Services program, teach courses within the core program of studies, maintain a productive scholarly agenda, and support the vitality of the university and its programs through service.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic environment.

  • The candidate will also work collaboratively with faculty to build a comprehensive Human Services program supporting all populations across a variety of human service settings.

  • The supervision of field-based students and internship students are also possible.

  • Mentorship and advisement of students are essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

  • Scholarly activity with publications in referred journals as well as attendance and presentations at professional meetings is essential.

  • Quality performance will also be expected in teaching, student mentorship, community service, as well as active University committee participation.

  • Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses.

Required Education and Experience:

  • An earned doctorate in Human Services or a related field from a regionally or nationally accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered with expected completion date by no later than August 15, 2026.

  • Two (2) years of experience working in a human services-related field having administrative, direct care, educational, or research responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service to students, employees, and the community.

  • Experience with program coordination.

  • Experience teaching human services-related coursework at a college/university.

  • Experience working with bilingual community-based human services programs.
