This is a dynamic position with primary responsibility for helping to grow business profitably within the Northeast Region. The qualified candidate will work closely with leadership throughout the organization to ensure that all business areas are properly aligned and effectively supporting MAPFRE’s vast network of Independent Agents and aggressive growth goals.

Working closely with and reporting to the SVP of Business Development for the Region, this individual will serve as a liaison for the Business Development team, collaborating with other departments within the Region and Nationally. The individual will be charged with helping to develop and execute the strategy of the Business Development team in order to achieve organizational goals and meet the budget.

 

Some additional responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Develop and maintain management tools designed to measure actual performance and to assist the Business Development Representatives in effectively managing territories.
  • Develop tracking of Key Performance Indicators and create reporting for management and Business Development Representatives.
  • Develop annual Marketing Budget and Travel & Entertainment budget for the Northeast Business Development team
  • Assist with training, budgeting and compensation for the agency force and Business Development Representatives.
  • Project management of the region’s key strategic priorities ensuring execution is crisp and timely.
  • Manage MAPFRE USA’s Licensing & Contracting Team assuring functionality across all Regions.
  • Serves as a go-to resource for resolving issues that fall outside standard workflows.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Education: Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: 8 or more years - or bachelor’s degree equivalent plus 10 or more years.
Knowledge: Complete understanding and knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Applies them to perform or lead work requiring extensive analytical business skills.
Decision Making: Makes decisions using broad management limits. Applies guidelines and procedures that leave considerable room for discretion and interpretation. Decisions directly influence project, client relationships and or expenditures. Additionally, decisions exert some influence on organization's long-range goals and objectives. Participates in determining objectives of assignments.
Supervision Received: Works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy in meeting objectives.
Leadership: Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff as needed. Takes a lead role in group, team or project.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Applies knowledge to determine solutions to complex problems with minimal direction. Uses research and analysis to develop innovative and practical solutions which are consistent with organizational objectives.
Client Contacts: Manages internal and external relationships. Represents organization as prime contact for projects and other necessary communications. Interaction may include senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring complex coordination between organizations. Communication involves persuasion and negotiation, as applicable. Seeks ways of improving client service.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Familiarity with a variety of PC database management techniques coupled with demonstrated knowledge of all Microsoft products including WORD, Excel and Access, and strong skills in PowerPoint.
