Your Role:

In this role you will focus on thermal analysis, reaction calorimetry, and the assessment of reaction hazards associated with chemical manufacturing operations. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our processes and products.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive hazard evaluations and risk assessments, specifically focusing on thermal stability and reaction hazards of chemical processes.
  • Utilize reaction calorimetry techniques (DSC, ARC, RSD and RC-1) to analyze exothermic and endothermic reactions, ensuring safe operational parameters.
  • Analyze and interpret data from thermal analysis studies to identify potential hazards and recommend safety measures. Generate Process Hazard Evaluation (PHE) and Grinding Assessment reports.
  • Participate in performing PHAs, risk assessments, HAZOPs and FMEA meetings. Conduct in person meetings and give presentation to engage the production teams and to increase their awareness about hazard evaluation and safety.
  • Collaborate with product development, process engineering, EHS and chemical manufacturing teams to evaluate and mitigate risks associated with chemical reactions and processing conditions.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations summarizing findings, safety protocols, and recommendations for process improvements. Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, providing expertise in thermal hazard assessments.
  • Provide scientific support and guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of reaction hazards in manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and suggest innovative solutions to further develop the Hazard Evaluation program, including utilization of PAT technologies and generation of data-rich experiments.
  • Execute appropriate literature searches in support of assigned work and/or troubleshooting. Participate as an individual contributor and work as a team to achieve goals, including meeting deadlines and productivity markers.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline.
  • 1+ year of independent lab research.
  • 1+ year of industrial experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline.
  • 1+ year in chemical industry and/or academic physical and organometallic chemistry research groups.  
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chemdraw. 
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written. 
  • Experience with chemical handling methods.
  • Wet chemistry laboratory skills and knowledge of spectroscopic techniques (NMR, FTIR, UV, HPLC, GC).
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Experience with laboratory instruments and production equipment. Experience with process techniques and unit operations. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Interpersonal skills and knowledge of ISO Quality standards. 

 

Pay Range for this position: $85,700 - $129,800.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
