About the Department
The Social Work Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking applications for two qualified-rank, non-tenure-track Assistant Clinical Professor positions, to begin on December 1, 2025. The successful candidate will join the faculty of our accredited Master of Social Work (MSW) program and contribute to our Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) program. This is a full-time, renewable, 9-month academic year appointment.
Information about Program and College
The Social Work Program at BGSU consists of 10 full-time faculty members and is part of the Department of Human Services, housed within the College of Health and Human Services. The department also includes the Gerontology and Criminal Justice programs. Our faculty are actively involved in teaching, research, community engagement, and service-learning, with a strong emphasis on the professional values and ethics of social work as conveyed by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
The MSW program offers in-person, hybrid, and online courses in focusareas of Gerontology, Healthcare, and Children & Families within our University Partnership Program (UPP). Our in-person MSW classes are held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to accommodate working professionals. Position Duties
The teaching load includes four courses each semester (Fall and Spring), for a total of eight courses during the academic year. Additional summer teaching opportunities may also be available for extra compensation. The position includes teaching 1–2 evening courses per week during the Fall and Spring semesters, as our in-person MSW classes are held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to accommodate working professionals. Additional teaching will take place through online courses in the MSW program, as well as in-person or online instruction in the BSSW program.
Additional duties include:
- Facilitating the development of professional competencies for students
- Fostering student knowledge of evidence-based practice
- Adhering to professional standards of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
- Engaging in ongoing professional development
- Providing academic and career advising to students
- Participating in student recruitment activities for the social work program
- Engaging in university and community service through committees and outreach initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and possess a minimum of two years of post-MSW professional practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will hold either a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential in the state of Ohio or an equivalent license in another state.
