About the Department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have computer skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Customer service experience.
  • Custodial experience.
  • Knowledge of woodworking, drywall repair, and painting.
  • Bloodborne pathogens and biohazard knowledge.
  • Familiar and comfortable driving a pick-up truck with lift gate to travel to and from park facilities throughout the city of Mankato.

Nature of Work:
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Recreation Coordinator, the Facilities Recreation Temporary Worker is responsible for supporting the parks facilities maintenance, assisting with city facility needs and providing administrative support for the facilities division as directed. This position is temporary, ending on December 31, 2025.

This position is employed by an approved third-party staffing agency.

Position Duties

Primary Essential Work Functions:

  • Performs pre- and post-rental inspections of parks recreation facilities.
  • Supports the delivery of programs and events by providing maintenance and cleaning support that meets the needs of the programs and events.
  • Assist City staff with administrative tasks, including running reports, doing research, filing, or other computer-based needs.
  • Performs and fosters an environment of safe work practices and reports safety issues promptly to the supervisor.
  • Ensures park amenities are safe, clean, and operational, including, but not limited to, restroom buildings, benches, drinking fountains, signage and parking lots.
  • Promptly reports vandalism and enters work orders as necessary. Notifies supervisor of concerns.
  • Works collaboratively to support the functions of the Facilities Division through a variety of support work including clerical, maintenance, and organizing duties.
Other Work Functions:
  • Performs physical/mental demands of the work environment requirements for this position.
  • Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
  • Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, community members, and customers.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Qualifications

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota. 
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background examination.
  • Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
  • Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data .Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed, incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished, the not public data must be properly stored according to city policy and the Minnesota Statutes.
