The purpose of this position is to service heavy-duty trucks and equipment by completing preventive maintenance and routine repairs. Other duties include performance of shop maintenance and housekeeping functions, performing service calls, and picking up parts from various vendors when needed.
Position Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with guidelines established by Wilmington Fleet Garage.
- This includes performing DOT inspections.
- Performing inspections of engine, driveline, steering, suspension, safety/ emergency equipment and body components.
- Changing all fluids and filters.
- Properly documenting all repairs needed.
- Checking vehicle operation when complete.
- Perform proper diagnosis and repair of Fleet Heavy Equipment according to manufacturer standards.
- Repair includes (but not limited to) engine, transmission, drive train, steering/suspension, electronics, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Clean and maintain the shop by cleaning all bays, removing trash and debris, sweeping floors and properly disposing of all supplies and used materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education: Six-months to one year of advanced study or training beyond high school or GED education.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience performing maintenance on a variety of different vehicles OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Requirements
Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification OR the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
Refrigerant Recovery Certification OR the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) OR the ability to obtain within 180 days of hire.
Notes: Driving check required for the selected candidate. Post-offer drug screen is also required for the selected candidate.
**Mechanics will be required to maintain certifications as a condition of continued employment.**
