JOB TITLE: Delivery Technician
DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy
REPORTS TO: Pharmacy Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
The primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Delivering medications, medical equipment, supplies, and retail products to customers and pharmacy LTC accounts. This includes accurately completing paperwork and collecting payments for services rendered.
- Setting up equipment and providing end user or their representative education on proper use of the equipment.
WORK PERFORMED
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive orders from area departments and route for delivery.
- Schedule customer orders for delivery to company routes or schedule on demand service.
- Process delivery orders in pharmacy designated software for routing, billing, and payment processing.
- Accomplish daily delivery run, maximizing efficiency of route stops between the hours specified.
- Follow company policy and procedures concerning loading and unloading equipment, securing equipment in the vehicle, customer delivery and pickup of equipment and securing the vehicle when parked.
- Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled, as well as the proper release of information.
- Demonstrates and models the Pharmacy’s core values of Compassion, Commitment, and Caring.
- Communicate with the pharmacy or DME department in a timely manner any delivery issues or concerns before leaving the delivery location. This includes but is not limited to order discrepancies, educational needs for medications, and/or billing questions.
- Reconcile all deliveries for payment and completion immediately upon return to the pharmacy. This includes properly filing any paperwork.
- Prepare equipment returned from a patient (dirty) per set standards to be patient ready again. Includes cleaning, disinfecting, quality assurance, and return to active status.
- Routine maintenance of the delivery van which includes washing and reporting any necessary repairs to ownership.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Receive orders from carriers and parcel service to the warehouse.
- Review, checkin, and place products in inventory per company policy from vendor shipments for stock.
- Document and report all incidents with deliveries.
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have own vehicle to use for delivery routes.
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good driving record with minimal traffic violations.
- Proven work experience as a Delivery Driver.
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative and good judgment in dealing with people.
- Ability to follow directions in order to deliver equipment, supplies and medications.
- Ability to accept and utilize supervision.

Physical Demands:
- Good physical and mental health.
- Neat, clean, free from body odors, conforms to the uniform code.
- Constant standing and walking during work periods.
- Turning, stooping, bending, climbing, stretching and lifting in the provision of comprehensive business management.
- Finger and hand dexterity necessary to handle equipment.
- Visual and auditory acuity required to complete comprehensive job functions.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB RISKS:
Identified risks, none identified. Possibility for acquiring airborne, rarely bloodborne pathogens
SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE:
Safety shoes required
Gloves, mask and gown provided and encouraged
MOST COMPLEX DUTY:
Satisfying customers needs while trying to adhere to the delivery schedule and delivery of temperature sensitive medications.
SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO):
Directly responsible to the Pharmacy Manager.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to customers and other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM)
EDUCATION:
High School or equivalent
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Previous pharmacy experience preferred. Possess an acceptable driving record and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday 2 hours per day in the late morning or early afternoon.
