The Opportunity
The Logistics Associate is tasked with picking, packing, and shipping orders, as well as receiving materials, conducting inspections, and managing internal material movement. This role requires the ability to build strong relationships with coworkers, internal customers, and carriers. The associate should be open to receiving work assignments from the Manager and Department Lead, recognizing the positive impact these tasks have on the business. Safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, bubble wrap machines, pallet jacks, and auto-wrappers is essential. The associate should consider various approaches and leverage their knowledge to actively identify and implement solutions that support continuous improvement initiatives. A strong desire for professional growth and a commitment to assisting in the development and training of coworkers are also important aspects of this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promptly gather incoming and outgoing materials and deliver them to designated production, distribution, and/or shipping warehouses to meet all production and shipping demands.
- Check inbound and outbound shipments for correct part numbers, quantities, and damage.
- Pack items into appropriate containers, assuring adequate protection.
- Scan inbound and outbound paperwork and enter it into IFS on the same day of receipt or shipment.
- Prepare domestic, international, and non-order shipments in accordance with company and customer requirements and specifications.
- Contact carriers, vendors, and third-party logistics companies to schedule pick-ups, ensuring customer delivery requirements are met.
- Generate freight quotes for customer orders
- Keep equipment operational by keeping it clean and reporting any malfunctions or repairs needed. Complete daily forklift inspection.
- Able to perform cycle and inventory counts, reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate department/area.
- Accurately report all inventory receipts and transactions utilizing an ERP system, barcodes, and electronic devices.
- Maintain FIFO when putting away and pulling orders.
- Follow SOPs to accurately perform all aspects of the job with strong attention to detail.
- Performs other duties or responsibilities as requested or required
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education and experience
- Minimum of 1-year related experience
- Previous Forklift certification preferred
- Strong math skills and high attention to detail
- Planning and organization skills
- Proficient computer knowledge and experience
- Analyzes situations and problems using a fact-based problem-solving method
- Approaches work with a sense of urgency, detail, and care
- Is willing to be open to alternate ideas and changes to process.
- Capable of interacting at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently or as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Works safely, following all job requirements for safety
