Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Additional duties include:
- Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Plan and execute projects involving company-wide installation of, or upgrades to PC based office automation packages. Assist the Networking, Desktop and Programming groups in the planning of projects involving configuration changes at the Server level and execute the plan when established.
- Establish company-wide hardware and office automation software standards, which will be kept up, to date, used for purchasing decisions, and supported internally.
- Maintain and report on inventory information of all hardware put in place, moved, or retired, both on-site and off-site.
- Recommend and take part in decision making process of hardware and office automation software purchases, based upon company business needs.
- Hire and direct services of third party network consultants and contractors, as approved by management.
