Group Fitness Instructor – Cardio and Strength Formats
The Torigian YMCA is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, motivating, fun-loving group fitness instructors to lead high-energy, music-driven cardio and strength classes. Formats could include bootcamp, circuit training, build & burn, and more! We want to get our members moving and leave them wanting more!
Salary Range: $30-$40 per 50-minute class
Qualifications:
- A valid group fitness instructor certification
- A valid CPR/AED certification
- At least one year of instructing experience
- A passion for fitness and community
Essential Functions:
To be successful in this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Other essential and non-essential responsibilities and projects may be assigned.
- Safely and effectively guide participants through fitness classes with professional, concise instruction in line with current industry standards
- Program engaging fitness classes with appropriate playlists and exercise routines which are changed up regularly
- Responsible for presenting a positive and competent image of the YMCA through quality programming designed to meet the needs of the community.
- Remain current in required and voluntary trainings at the Metro North YMCA
- Must start and end on time and be well organized and prepared to teach classes.
- Provide excellent customer service to and build relationships with all participants in class, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise.
- Communicate effectively with the Health and Wellness Director and/or Assistant Director via phone, email, or in person.
- Understand and follow all administrative procedures and adhere to the guidelines outlined in the YMCA Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies.
- Attend Group Fitness and department staff meetings.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Skills and Competencies:
- Possess excellent communication and human relation skills.
- Ability to work as an integral member of the team.
- Ability to handle member concerns quickly and effectively
- Ability to encourage members to reach their fitness and wellness goals.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to demonstrate appropriate and correct techniques when teaching Group Fitness classes.
- Some lifting may occasionally be required of up to 45 pounds.
