Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team in the Budget and Finance Section (BFS) of the Administrative Division, that is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive financial management program for the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Typical work assignments will include: -Maintains and reconciles account records; -Receives, examines and processes vouchers to ensure correctness, legality, justification and compliance with regulations; -Identifies cost and billing problems associated with service providers, contractors, and/or travel vendors; and -Assigns appropriate accounting classification codes and object classification; and -Ensures data entered is accurate. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications
To qualify as a GS-07 Accounting Technician, you must have one year equivalent to at least the GS-06 level of specialized experience. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience is defined as utilizing knowledge of accounting systems, accounting codes, classifications, and terminology and is demonstrated by reconciling obligations, expenditures, and account records; reviewing, analyzing, and verifying financial documents to ensure invoices are sufficient and accurate; ensuring expenditures are coded to the correct service provider or vendor; preparing reports for management on current obligations and expenditures; and communicating with service providers to resolve discrepancies. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
