Job Summary:

Ensure all staff members receive a 10-minute break for each 4-hour period of work. During the absence of staff from the assigned area ensure all work in progress continues without interruption until the staff member returns from their break. Plan 1 activity each day to bring with you into each classroom to be implemented should additionally play materials be necessary in the absence of the staff member taking their break. Collaborate with children, staff & families to assure High Quality early childhood education – Assist all classroom staff as requested as we all work together to Maintain an internal or external review score of 6.0 for ITERS, or SAERS score which ensures your center maintains our current Race to the Top rating of Tier 5.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Using a Break Schedule travel from classroom to classroom and take the place of the assigned staff member while a rest period is taken per the labor code laws that govern daily rest periods. Document all breaks using the Children’s Paradise system of recording the rest-period.
  • Responsible to plan one learning activity that can be implemented in the classroom should additional materials be needed during the absence of the staff member that is on their break.
  • Responsible to support the Lead teacher and your Teaching team as we all work together to ensure compliance with all Licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and the Education Code as applicable. Reference CA Code of Regulations, Title 22 Sections 101215 and 101215.1 and Title 5.
  • Responsible to maintain the hallway of the center presenting an impeccably clean environment to all staff and customers. Including but not limited to washing all windows, fingerprints, floor spots, trash & washable wall scuffs. Assist in the acquisition of supplies needed by classroom staff and support as needed.
  • Fill in as directed in a classroom when assigned staff are absent from their assigned shift.
  • Supporting the front office management team with center operation tasks as need.

  • Infant/Toddler Units 
  • 12ECE preferred
  • Assistant Permit preferred


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at various locations, as needed.
  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds to support children.
  • Ability to bend and squat to interact with children.
