This position is to assist the team in assembling and trouble-shooting automated machines, sub-assemblies, and electrical components. As a packing machine operator. You must be able to act proactively to ensure seamless team operations and effective collaboration. The Machine Packer Operator will float between both line verifying the process of the box former and case sealer are in correctly work. This position will be responsible for learning, operating, and troubleshooting the box former and case sealing. This position may also back up the wrapper operator, if needed. The Packing Machine Operator will lead by example and engage the team to achieve goals. Packing Machine Operators will assist in planning, organizing and recommending strategies, ensuring that the product is produced successfully, in accordance with production room specifications. 

Requirements


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Performing machine alignments and final set-ups.
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle.
  • Break down, clean, and cover all electrical component to prepare for wash down.
  • Control and adjust machine settings (i.e., speed)
  • Inspect parts and machines with precision and measuring tools.
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws; correct as needed.
  • Ensure product is properly mixed and prepared for distribution.
  • Control and operate pack room equipment.
  • Ability to stage product for daily production process.
  • Understand and follow all department SOP’s (Site Operating Procedures)
  • Ability to understand, read and complete all necessary paperwork, including but not limited to USDA or FDA Documents
  • Ensure finished product is wrapped and package in preparation for departure to the next process.
  • Mediate mechanical/personnel issues that might occur during the shift.
  • Additional essential responsibilities may be applicable to specific jobs.

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Good basic math aptitude and ability to use scales and calculators.
  • Flexible with work schedule to fit business needs.
  • 1-3 years of food manufacturing experience is required. · English/Spanish bilingual is a plus. · 3-5+ years of experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Understands food manufacturing, production, specifications, and food quality standards.
  • Understands the functionality of ingredients with time and temperature in the food manufacturing
  • process.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Functional knowledge of SQF, GMP’s, HACCP

Work Environment:

  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods
  • Working in rooms with humid conditions with regular exposure to cold
  • Climbing or moving on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms
  • Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing, and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 60 lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers

Physical Demands:

  • Regular exposure to cold, hot and or humid conditions
  • Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations
  • Ability to work in close spaces.
  • Loud noise environment
