Primary Objectives of Position:
Trans Ova Genetics is seeking a Recipient Herdsmen Intern in Sioux Center, IA. This is a production internship that includes cattle handling, heat checking, and close interaction to full time staff.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Cattle handling. Sort cows for heats, preg checks, and bred cows going home to customers.
- Heat check cows.
- Yard maintenance. Manure hauling, bedding, and general yard care.
- Assist full time team members with processing new cows and pregnancy checks.
- Be willing to work with TOG full-time staff as well as independently.
- Represent TOG in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
- Provide detailed feedback on the summer experience, customer and prospect feedback as well as needs within the industry
Qualifications:
- Strong cattle background with cattle handling experience
- Heat checking experience preferred
- Person who is self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must possess communication and people skills
- Willingness to learn and develop both personally and professionally
- Computer skills are preferred
