Description
This position, while performing basic food service duties for the Beehive Café, provides vocational skill habilitation and/or rehabilitation pertaining to food services to individuals with disabilities in accordance with the IDD Waiver program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College training and a desire to work in a mission-based non-profit organization preferred, training in a human services field of study a plus
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Experience working in some aspect of food services, Knowledge of kitchen terminology preferred
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and descriptive written documentation
- Demonstrated ability to give clear instructions in an encouraging tone
- Experience using computer applications, experience using a web-based application preferred
- Able to accommodate a flexible work schedule as needed
- Able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit
- Able to pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must be able to participate and pass trainings to include but not limited to First Aid, CPR and CCM training
- A valid drivers license and must be willing to transport clients for food service-related deliveries and activities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare food for Beehive customers under guidance of the Food Services Manager
- Follow instructions in operating kitchen equipment, maintaining the dining area and work areas, and using tools of the trade (i.e. cash register)
- Implements and follows systematic training according to program plan requirements (i.e. habilitation plans, program plans)
- Train individuals on specific work requirements according to the employment program placement
- Conducts on-going assessment of the clients work skills against the demands of the work site
- Follows food services health and safety protocols
- Completes all necessary data entry and paperwork within the time frame required
- Relates problems, concerns, program ideas, or other items of interest in a timely manner to the BSPs
- Participates in periodic staff training
- Advocates with employers and the community to shape a positive image of persons with disabilities
- Dress to project professionalism Bee Hive tee shirt provided, appropriate non-slip shoes required

- Work environment: This position involves moving with clients, sitting for periods of time, and working with kitchen equipment. The employee may be exposed to noise, heat, cleaning tools and substances.
