Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.  Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

Job Title: Behavioral Health Clinician
 

Job Summary: To perform a combination of behavioral health clinical tasks including but not limited to counseling with emphasis on brief crisis intervention with individuals admitted to the CSU. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. This position will help individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis deal with complex and comorbid diagnosis which may include serious persistent mental health illness, serious emotional disturbance, addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, marital problems and challenges with social determinants of health; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging, physical, mental and emotional health.  


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (37.5 hours / week)

Compensation: $50k-60k depending on license & experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform face-to-face counseling support for consumers who have been admitted to the CSU. 

  • Provide group counseling for consumers who have been admitted to the CSU. 

  • Guide consumers in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems using evidence-based modalities. 

  • Encourage consumers to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships. 

  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge. 

  • Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in consumer’s status. 

  • Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies. 

  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with and supporting consumers. 

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and consumers’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives. 

  • Meet with families, clinic providers, care managers and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process. 

Essential Skills and Experience: 

  • Master’s degree (M.A., M.S.) in Mental Health field 

  • Licensed or License-eligible with either with LPC/MHSP, LCSW or LMFT in the state of TN. 

 

Essential Requirements for the Position: 

  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License 

  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) 

  • Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation 

  • Personal Automobile Insurance
