Position Summary/Objective

The Sr. Director of HR will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all aspects of Human Resources. This role is critical to building a high-performing culture, ensuring organizational compliance, and aligning people initiatives with business objectives. 


This individual will oversee talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, payroll, compensation & benefits administration, learning and development, compliance, and employee relations. As a member of the leadership team, the Sr. Director will partner closely with executives, managers, and employees to drive initiatives that enhance culture, strengthen employee engagement, and fuel growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with executive leadership to define long-term people strategies that support organizational growth and performance.
  • Develop HR policies, practices, and initiatives that reflect best practices, legal compliance, and company values.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and culture.
  • Support executive leaders with HR communications, meeting coordination, and follow-up on strategic HR initiatives.
  • Partner with the HR Manager on compliance efforts, employee relations support, and continuous improvement of HR systems and processes.


Employee Engagement

  • Own the annual employee engagement survey process, from design and communication to analysis and reporting.
  • Lead action planning efforts with leadership teams to ensure year-over-year improvement in engagement scores.
  • Champion initiatives that strengthen culture, collaboration, and recognition.


Talent & Development

  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of talent across all levels.
  • Lead performance management processes including goal setting, reviews, and career development planning.
  • Design and manage learning and development initiatives to enhance workforce skills and leadership readiness.


Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits

  • Manage payroll administration, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. 
  • Partner with Finance on total rewards strategy; analyze trends to ensure competitive compensation and benefits offerings.
  • Oversee benefits administration and employee wellness programs.
  • Align compensation programs with organizational performance objectives while ensuring cost-effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation policies and claims management
  • Manage relationships with brokers and vendors
  • Provide 401k plan oversight and support audits


Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues; ensure consistent application of policies and resolution of conflicts.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (including EEO, ACA, OSHA).


Operations & Administration

  • Direct HR reporting and analytics on headcount, attrition, compensation, and engagement.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to align workforce planning and budgets.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s and/or HR certification preferred).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including talent management, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Experience leading engagement initiatives, and multi-state HR operations strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS (ADP Workforce Now preferred).

Position Details

  • Work Location: On-site at Pittston, PA headquarters.
  • Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility as business needs require.
  • Travel: Up to 10%.
