PureView Health Center has career opportunities for a  Full-time, Medical Records Processor.  This opportunity, located in Helena, Montana is within the Administrative department and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Opportunity

Responsibilities of this career opportunity include performing administrative support tasks with a focus on maintaining patient medical records.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain patient medical records, assuring all medical, ethical and legal requirements are met. 
  • Seek legal advice for health information issues.  
  • Compile, verify, and file medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) according to established procedures ensuring the policies for the privacy and security of patient information are met.  
  • Numerous contacts with a variety of professional offices and personnel in the community, including hospital and clinic representatives, legal offices, laws enforcement agencies, and other medical practices and patients.  
  • Release records and medical information to patients, medical providers, law offices and Federal and State entities per release of information provided in accordance with HIPPA and Hitech Act laws and guidelines.  
  • Assist with processing subpoena and court orders.  
  • Scan medical records to HIPPA compliant Federal websites, prepare bills and processes payments for record releases.  
  • Expedite the scanning of all lab/x-ray reports and other documents into the EMR.  
  • Prepare outgoing referrals.  
  • Respond to inquiries and questions from patients and medical facilities.  
  • Maintain and enter patient lab results, diagnostic imaging and consultation reports in EMR. 
  • Report critical values to medical staff.  
  • Review incoming patient medical documents for accuracy.  
  • Track and scan medical records into EMR.  
  • Maintain records room in accordance to legal standards;  
  • May fill in for front desk.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year experience working in a medical office with medical records.
  • Associates degree in medical office administration or similar preferred.
