Title:  Math Instructional Coach

Description: Provide instructional support and coaching to enhance math teaching practices and improve student achievement in middle school mathematics.

Job Summary: 

• Conduct regular classroom visits to coach teachers and provide actionable feedback aimed at improving instructional practices through a reflective coaching cycle.

• Support teachers in planning and delivering standards-based mathematics instruction.

• Model culturally responsive, brain-based teaching strategies.

• Review benchmark assessment results and student performance data to guide instructional planning and focus areas for both grade-level teams and individual teachers, ensuring alignment with standards and effective practices.

• Examine student data trends to identify learning gaps and support targeted interventions that address specific student needs.

• Stay current with research and trends related to instruction, assessment, and student learning.

• Review and evaluate curriculum materials, making data-informed recommendations for modifications.

• Recommend high-quality instructional resources that support effective teaching and learning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certification in the area of mathematics.

• 3–5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school level.

• Deep understanding of effective, research-based instructional practices in mathematics.

• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

• Experience leading professional development for classroom teachers.

• Proficient in using educational technology to support instruction and learning.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, manage conflict, and collaborate with teachers and administrators.

• Ability to mentor and coach educators in best instructional practices.

Working Conditions: The Math Coach position will be based at Hackensack Middle School. This role will involve regular collaboration with teachers and staff within the school building, including time spent in classrooms providing coaching and support.

Salary: As Per HEA Contract
