As Business Unit Automotive & Speciality Lamps we support our vision and strategy by expanding our leading position in the automotive lighting market in OEM and Aftermarket. We are in a global leadership position in the automotive lamps business in traditional and LED applications and offer industry leading products in LED lighting to global OEM customers (e.g. with exchangeable LED light sources). About OSRAM SYLVANIA Automotive Lighting
OSRAM SYLVANIA, together with OSRAM GmbH, is the world leader in automotive lighting for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the aftermarket. The company’s global automotive lighting division has its principal North American operations in Hillsboro, N.H., with nearly 500 employees.
Responsibilities:
As an Engineer for the Auxiliary / Solid State Lighting teams, you will directly impact the production of lamps going out to market. This role is responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes for automotive lighting products to be delivered to our OEM & retail customers. You will contribute to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain SMT manufacturing processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Program and optimize SMT equipment (pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, AOI/AXI).
- Perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects such as solder bridging, tombstoning, misalignment, and insufficient solder.
- Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and process control plans.
- Lead process capability studies and implement statistical process control (SPC).
- Collaborate with design engineering to improve manufacturability (DFM) of new products.
- Select solder paste, stencils, nozzles, and other materials to optimize yield and reliability.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) from prototype to full-scale production.
- Train operators and technicians on SMT best practices and equipment use.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase line efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality.
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, etc.) and ESD control requirements.
Who we are looking for
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or manufacturing engineering
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in an electronics manufacturing or SMT environment.
- Automotive industry experience preferred, but not necessary.
- Experience with Lean/5S principles preferred, but not necessary
- Must be reliable and detail-oriented.
