As an Assistant Director, you will work under minimal supervision to assist the Director in operation of the veterinary care program at UT Southwestern; includes leading and mentoring animal care staff, ensure facilities are maintained, consult with researchers on protocols and humane care, provide technical support and training, and may contribute to administrative duties and instruction. Recommends changes and reviews progress with the Director.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EProvides oversight of veterinary care of research animals.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EProvides medical and surgical care for research animals.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EOversees the interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring of management/supervisors of veterinary care staff. Participates in interviewing and hiring staff. Reviews employee performance, makes recommendations for promotions, and reviews disciplinary actions.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EMaintains compliance for AAALAC accreditation of animal care program (ARC SOPs, IACUC policy, the Guide, AWA, NIH guidelines, USDA, CDC, PHS policy, etc.).%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists with AAALAC site visits and USDA inspections.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EOversees subordinate veterinarians/veterinary technicians within the veterinary care team.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssists Director with creating and analyzing various reports and projects.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EMaintains confidentiality as appropriate.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPerforms other duties as assigned.%3C/li%3E%3C/ul%3E%3Cp style=%22font-family:Arial;%22%3E%3Cbr%3E%3Cstrong%3ESECURITY AND EEO STATEMENT%3C/strong%3E%3Cbr%3E%3Cstrong%3ESecurity%3C/strong%3E%26nbsp;%3Cbr%3EThis position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
