A Commissioning Technician works with other Bastian Business Units, Engineering Team Members, and the Production Team to perform assembly, programming, testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of automated products, focused on, but not limited to Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). The process involves understanding the functional requirements, objectives, and developing processes, solutions, and troubleshooting guides to optimize commissioning time per unit. The Commissioning Technician is responsible for supporting automation products and will be responsible for spending time assembling units, creating and maintaining accurate documentation, troubleshooting, programming, debugging, system startup, and validation that the product meets the appropriate requirements. The Commissioning Technician helps our company meet its mission to help our customers compete in their markets by providing the best material handling system solutions and technology.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and maintain commissioning logs, for multiple product lines
- Using software to follow and complete Commissioning Standard Work
- Following drawings and standard work to complete assembly
- Help develop standard work and processes for new product lines
- Clear communication with Management, Engineering, Quality and other team members
- Improve standard practices (Kaizen) to ensure quality improvement and cost and time reduction
- Work well with others
- Solve technical problems, both individually and with collaboration
- Be able to hold to a production schedule and quality standards
- Attend training and learn new information specifically how Bastian products function
- Complete all administrative tasks/paperwork/timesheets in a timely manner
- Other job duties that may be assigned
Travel to other Bastian locations for travel: <10%
Qualifications:
- Technical Degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of similar experience required
- Aptitude for hands on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting required
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills required
- Computer literate with MS Office is required
- Being able to read technical drawings is required
- 2D and 3D CAD experience is a plus
- Experience with automation is a plus
Physical demands:
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. - Occasional
