Fabricator at Thomas Sign and Awning

Thomas Sign and Awning in Clearwater, Florida, creates brands that get businesses noticed and tower over the competition!   We are looking for a fabricator / welder to join our growing, award-winning team.  The idea candidate will have experience fabricating and welding aluminum and/or steel. However, we are willing to train the right candidate.  If you are eager to learn, have good math skills, can read a tape measure, follow directions and you are willing to work 1st Shift from 7:30am to 4pm or 2nd Shift, 3:30pm to Midnight, we would like to talk to you.   

 JOB DESCRIPTION

Fabricates and assembles all parts to form complete sign cabinets, pylons, pole covers and other custom-made sign assemblies. May create units or subassemblies at a bench or other work locations. Performs a variety of assembly operations such as riveting and welding. Performs and demonstrates any of the operations within the group. Utilizes hand tools, power tools and other special equipment to perform assigned job.  Works as a member of a team, and helps train less experienced workers. Possesses a good understanding of the entire sign manufacturing process, and interacts with other departments to solve production problems.  Often refers to technical drawings, engineering notes, production schedules or other reference material. Responsible for checking quality of own work.   Performs rework if product is rejected, due to quality of the unit.

• Use of common power tools, both electric and air
• Use of power operated sheet metal brake and power shear
• Able to accurately measure and cut metal, plastic, wire, fabric, etc.
• Able to assemble parts to form complete units or subassemblies
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and read shop drawings
• Must be able to cooperate and work well with others in a team environment
• Able to keep work area organized, neat and clean
