Our Community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, 40-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 34-bed Memory Support Unit.

We are seeking a highly skilled full-time Environmental Services Supervisor to oversee and provide housekeeping services, ensuring staff perform assigned housekeeping duties within established quality care and cleanliness service standards. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Services (EVS), this position will professionally train housekeeping staff with a strong focus on safety, practice excellent cleaning techniques, model service excellence, and serve as an effective resource for guidance, knowledge, and information. 


The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two (2) years of progressive EVS experience, including cleaning, floor care, and fabric care in a long-term care, continuing care retirement community, or hospital setting, with a strong focus on safety and team productivity; with at least (1) year of previous lead and/or supervisory experience with a large housekeeping team, serving as a trusted resource and positive role model for team members. Experience with healthcare regulatory requirements, with a proven track record of supervising, assessing, and training large teams, and excellent documentation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, and evaluate EVS housekeeping functions. Schedule and supervise EVS staff. Conduct routine inspection of buildings to determine cleaning needs. Assign work, establish and communicate deadlines, evaluate work progress and quality of work. 
  • Ensure EVS staff are oriented and provided proper knowledge, training, tools, and resources needed to adhere to established departmental protocols and procedures. 
  • Relay directives and information from management and communicate any needs or concerns by staff to management. Ensure timely response to management as urgent needs arise. Effectively communicate with all team members, management, residents, and visitors.
  • Assist management with reporting as well as development, compliance, and monitoring the department-wide quality assurance program.
  • Maintain a regular staff work schedule as assigned by Director, EVS, and may serve as backup as needed for staff call outs, staff shortages, and/or if additional coverage is needed for events, etc.
  • Clean, service, and inspect public/common areas and private resident areas, including fabric care and floor care in accordance with established health, hygiene, appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management), in order of priority as established by Director, EVS.
  • Ensure survey-ready rooms in the Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Support Units, are consistently and properly maintained, promptly reporting any concerns to management. Ensure vacant units are cleaned and move-in ready based on the Marketing Dept. schedule. Utility rooms, ancillary areas, and laundry areas must be properly cleaned and well organized. Effectively coordinate with other departments so as to provide excellent services.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order and supplies are properly maintained to avoid waste, prevent accidents and damage to areas, and unnecessary costs. Complete all documentation as needed in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Ensure EVS inspection lists are regularly completed and updated in a timely manner. Coordinate projects and maintain records of all project work completed.
  • Properly manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials. Schedule equipment repair and routine maintenance on all cleaning equipment..
  • May work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions. Provide weekend, holiday, and evening on-call and assist with staffing as needed. Expected to report to work on time and work the full established schedule.  


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. At least two (2) years of progressive cleaning, fabric care, and floor care experience in a long-term care, CCRC, or hospital setting, with a strong focus on safety and team productivity; at least (1) year of previous lead and/or supervisory experience with a large EVS team, serving as a trusted resource and positive role model for team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Serve as role model for service excellence, with demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and work effectively as a supervisor, team member, and independently. Expected to operate effectively under pressure of deadlines and other stressors, remaining calm and professional.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, high self-initiative, with ability to accurately follow and deliver verbal and written instructions in a timely manner. 
  • Skilled at working with the elderly population in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Perform duties with consideration for residents' rights, demonstrate integrity and discretion in care of residents and their health information.
  • Knowledgeable with safe and appropriate use of cleaning supplies, floor cleaning solutions and methods, and appropriate equipment utilization.
  • Knowledgeable with applicable computer software programs, able to operate computer and other office equipment.
  • Able to sit, stand for extended periods of time, stationary positions at certain times during the workday, walk, move about the large complex of buildings and operational areas, inside and outside, ascend/descend stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel, sometimes in remote/physically tight locations inside and outside, balance, maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach overhead, grasp with both hands, fine manipulation, coordination, and repetitive motion. 
  • Able to frequently exert up to 50 lbs. (unassisted) and/or lift up to 25 lbs. (unassisted) to move objects, with ability to carry, transfer, push, and pull with assistance or by using appropriate equipment.
