About the Position
Engineering Technician 2 - Surveying: This Engineering Technician position works in the Engineering & Construction Services Division of Lane County Public Works. Responsibilities will generally include: assisting with the survey, design, and construction of public improvements; collecting and researching data; computer aided drafting; construction inspection; and preparing reports.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with survey, design, and construction of public improvements;
Assisting with performing surveys of county-owned properties and road rights-of-way;
Collecting, processing, and evaluating field data, and performing fundamental computations to determine locations, areas, volumes, and similar mathematical quantities;
Preparing CAD drawings of a variety of surveys: boundary and right-of-way, topographical, as-built, along with other related maps, diagrams, and sketches as needed;
Researching and examining surveying, engineering, and construction records from a variety of different sources and agencies,
Utilizing various online and archival resources;
Organizing and maintaining records and databases pertaining to survey data collected from projects throughout the construction season.
About the Division
The Engineering & Construction Services Division responsibilities include planning, designing and constructing safe and efficient transportation systems for Lane County. The Division also provides high quality and comprehensive engineering and construction services to other County Departments and external public agency clients that manage, maintain, and plan public improvement programs and projects. Our mission is to provide these important services for the benefit of citizens, businesses, industries, and visitors to Lane County.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
NOTE: Occasional overtime typically during the June - October construction season.

Position Duties
Training and Experience:
- Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position.
- Contributing Level (N4312): 0-2 years of related experience; or having an Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Valid Oregon Driver's License
