About the Role:
The Benefits & Authorizations Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring that patients receive timely and accurate benefits verification and authorization services within the health care environment. This position is responsible for managing and processing insurance authorizations, verifying patient benefits, and maintaining detailed records to support billing and clinical operations. The role requires close collaboration with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and administrative teams to facilitate smooth patient care delivery and compliance with regulatory requirements. By efficiently handling authorizations and benefits inquiries, the clerk helps minimize delays in patient treatment and optimizes reimbursement processes. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall operational efficiency and financial health of the organization by ensuring accurate and timely benefits management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare administrative role, preferably involving insurance benefits and authorizations.
- Proficiency with healthcare insurance terminology and prior authorization processes.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance verification software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with insurance companies and healthcare staff.
