The Portfolio Management Associate II will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Portfolio Manager and VP of Commercial Portfolio Management in overseeing the credit quality of the commercial loan portfolio, partnering with loan officers and other internal and external stakeholders. The individual will perform loan monitoring of all compliance requirements and complete annual loan reviews by performing financial statement analysis and collateral evaluations to ensure all HOPE Commercial Loans are properly documented, adequately underwritten, properly graded, and appropriately priced. The reviews and analyses performed by the Portfolio Management Associate II will help HOPE manage commercial loan portfolio risk by ensuring compliance with Credit Union and regulatory requirements. The individual will also collaborate with loan officers to identify areas of concern pertaining to the commercial loan portfolio and in the management of maturing and delinquent loans.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Portfolio Management and Special Asset Departments with reporting, analysis, and general administrative functions
- Perform regular commercial loan portfolio reviews that cover asset quality, documentation, compliance, and data entry
- Ensure the risk management of each client relationship in compliance with established credit policy and regulatory guidelines
- Help determine the creditworthiness of the loan portfolio, looking for changes that merit a review of lending practices and/or adverse asset classification
- Validate the accuracy of the credit grading / loan rating system
- Prepare monthly reports to monitor the performance of the commercial loan portfolio to management
- Verify the maintenance of borrowers’ insurance policies and the payment of property taxes
- Identify and evaluate portfolio trends with respect to delinquency, bankruptcy, demographics, loan programs, and other factors
- Spreading of borrowers’ financial statements into the financial analysis spreadsheet program/software
- Stress-test the loan portfolio or individual loans for risk monitoring
- Verify quality, completeness and accuracy of supporting loan documentation
- Support loan officers in gathering necessary financial information from borrowers and associated guarantors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
- 3 – 5 years of experience as a Commercial Credit Analyst, Portfolio Management Associate, and/or Commercial Loan Officer
- Demonstrated strength in credit analysis and financial analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate being a self-starter, well-organized, detail oriented
- Ability to work well independently and in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Strong understanding of loan documentation criteria
